Coffee in Đà Lạt

Most Vietnamese coffee is robusta from the lower plateaus. Đà Lạt is the exception you can drink in: the city sits on the Lâm Viên plateau, where Lâm Đồng’s arabica is mainly grown, and areas such as Cầu Đất reach about 1,500 m. Even here arabica is the minority. VOV put it at about 16,000 of the merged province’s roughly 327,000 ha of coffee in 2025.

Since October 2025 Lâm Đồng coffee has carried a geographical indication, a protected name for coffee grown and processed in the province. More on the province’s growing areas is on the Lâm Đồng region page.

What that means for a visitor. You can drink coffee very close to where it grew. K’Ho Coffee, at the foot of Lang Biang north of the city, is run by a K’Ho family that grows and roasts its own arabica. In town, Là Việt roasts on site at its Nguyễn Công Trứ café.

Flavour. Highland arabica is commonly described as brighter and less bitter than the robusta in a typical cà phê sữa đá. That is a general description, not a promise about any one cup.
