Coffee in Hội An

Hội An was a trading port long before it was a coffee town, and the Old Town that survives from that period has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999. Since July 2025 the town has been part of Đà Nẵng city, divided into the wards of Hội An, Hội An Đông and Hội An Tây, though the heritage site is still managed as one.

The bridge in the picture. Chùa Cầu, officially Lai Viễn Kiều, is commonly dated to the late 16th or early 17th century and attributed to the town’s Japanese merchant community; the heritage board says its exact construction date is unknown. It was taken apart for restoration in December 2022 and reopened in August 2024.

The cafés. Many sit in the old shophouses along Trần Phú, some with seating on the roof. Hội An Roastery roasts its own and puts egg coffee, salt coffee and coconut coffee on the same menu as phin coffee and espresso, which makes it an easy place to try drinks from other cities. For specialty filter and espresso, Đà Nẵng’s XLIII opened a Hội An branch in 2023, north of the old streets.

Cafés in the rest of Đà Nẵng city are in the Đà Nẵng guide.
